2010

In my pre-mountain biking days, I was a triathlete and competed for South Africa at the World Triathlon Championship in Hawaii in 2005, and Switzerland in 2006. A shoulder injury put paid to my swimming, thus bringing my triathlon training to an end in 2007.

I then based myself in the UK to gain experience competing internationally, and was able to secure sponsorship for equipment and bike maintenance to allow me to compete in the London and Southern Regions series. I then entered the British National Series, and won the Expert category in the Cross Country (XC) section. I was also placed third overall woman in the Marathon Series 100km. These results earned me enough points to be ranked the top Expert Female Mountain Biker in Great Britain for 2008.

In April of 2009, Pietermaritzburg (South Africa) played host to round one of the UCI World Mountain Biking Championships. In the XC event, I finished 44th overall in the Ladies category (out of 80). Further injury put paid to my competition in 2009 and it has been a long road back to recovery.

In 2009 I teamed up with the Mad Scientists with whom I had adventure raced before and managed to secure a sponsorship for my racing. In their colours I haev been able to win numerous events including the Western Cape MTB XC Championships in 2010 and Age Group Championships in 2011.
